Our Boy’s Primary School is currently looking for a Primary School Teaching Assistant. This is a permanent, part time role offering 0.55 FTE, 20.88 hour per week across Monday to Friday.
The primary responsibility is to support the education of primary school children by working with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver an education programme to develop literacy and numeracy, as well as the physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth of their students.
Other responsibilities include:
- Assist in the planning and preparation of lesson plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines
- Provide Mathematics and Literacy support to Year 3 and Year 6
- Use a variety of effective techniques and technologies to engage students with learning process according to their age, level of ability and individual needs
- Assist with the encouragement of the intellectual and emotional growth of children including reasoning and problem solving skills, creativity and self-expression
- Develop and maintain good working habits and discipline in the classroom
- Carry out administrative duties including swimming sports, athletic sports and whole school excursions where required.
About you:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in lower primary general studies curriculum content, current curriculum approaches and teaching practices
- Passionate about teaching and working with children
- Resilience, empathy and patience in their approach to teaching
- Excellent communication skills, classroom management and flexible on tailoring to varying student needs
- A sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children

Qualifications/Skills Required
- Tertiary qualifications in Education (Bachelor degree or higher)
- Current VIT registration
