About the Role
Sholem Aleichem College is seeking a Maintenance Person to maintain their facilities in a safe operating condition; manage a preventive maintenance program; and resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties
- General maintenance and repairs
- Preventative maintenance: inspects equipment and facilities to identify need for any potential repairs
- Arranges tradesmen for any maintenance/repairs that are beyond the scope of the position.
- Basic carpentry
- Assists with setting up and breaking down of events, moving furniture, equipment, and/or supplies.
- Managing waste removal/recycling
- Tidying of garden beds, removal of leaves and debrisRestocking and delivery of consumables, chemicals, paper products, etc.
- Transporting equipment, supplies, etc. at school and/or job sites, functions, etc.
Working Hours
This is a part-time position of 27.5 hours per week spread over 5 days. Apart from the 7am start each day, the spread of hours is negotiable.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Working with Children Check employee card
- Current Victorian Drivers license
- National Police check
- Pleasant manner in dealings with students, staff and/or parents
- Prior related work experience with satisfactory job performance or evaluation.
- Skills to operate hand and power tools used in general maintenance functions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks
- Reliability: punctual and professional at all times
- Understanding of and commitment to Child Protection policies and procedures
- Understanding of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures
- First Aid/ CPR/ Asthma and Anaphylaxis training highly desirable
