About the Role

BAQS is an established, independent Melbourne quantity surveying and cost management practice, founded in 2008 by Director Des Berkowitz (CQS, AAIQS), who brings over 30 years of construction industry experience. We work for local councils, government, education providers, developers, community organisations and major banks and lenders across council and community, education, childcare and aged care, residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our South Yarra team. All levels of experience will be considered – from graduates and junior QSs through to experienced and senior QSs. Duties will be matched to your experience and may include:

  • Measurement, estimating and cost planning from concept design through to tender
  • Financiers’ initial reports and monthly progress claim assessments for banks and lenders
  • Tax depreciation schedules and insurance replacement valuations
  • Maintenance plans (sinking fund reports) and lifecycle costing
  • Variation and progress claim assessments and contract administration support
  • Assisting with expert witness reports for building disputes (VCAT, County Court and Supreme Court)

Working Hours

Full time, part time or casual contract – all arrangements will be considered.

 

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics/Management or a related discipline (graduates and final-year students welcome to apply)
  • Sound measurement and numerical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with digital measurement software an advantage
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • AIQS membership (or working towards it) an advantage but not essential
