Jewish Care has made the decision to suspend the Volunteer Program within residential aged care, effective immediately.
The health and wellbeing of our Elders, staff and volunteers, is paramount to us.
Until further notice, residential aged care volunteering for Jewish Care will not be available.
This includes:
• Visiting any Jewish Care facility
• Driving any Jewish Care Elders in a vehicle (including bus outings and to appointments)
• Assisting in the Active Living Centre
We understand that suspending all volunteering in residential aged care may be met with mixed emotions. The Volunteer Program team will continue to offer assistance and support to all Jewish Care volunteers.
Jewish Care will be assessing other methods such as social connection programs, or using phones and streaming technology to connect our volunteers with clients and Elders.
Jewish Care is committed to taking all reasonable steps to ensure the wellbeing of Elders, staff, volunteers and visitors accessing our Aged Care homes.
Our actions are based on the up-to-date information provided by the Department of Health regarding COVID-19.
