Jewish Care Victoria is working hard to safeguard the wellbeing of our community across all our services during the COVID-19 crisis.

We have been notified that three tenants across two apartments in our Independent Living Units in St Kilda have tested positive to COVID-19.

One tenant has transferred to the Alfred Hospital and the two other tenants are isolating at home in their units.

We are in the process of contacting all tenants with information and to strongly encourage them to get tested urgently and isolate. Supports will be offered as required.

We are awaiting contact with the Victorian Government’s Public Health Unit and will follow their directives, however, at this stage, the site has not been declared an Exposure Site.

While we have not identified any direct contact with COVID-19 positive tenants, we will ask those staff who have attended the site to test and isolate until they receive their results.

“We understand that this is a very distressing time for our tenants, their families and our staff. We will work tirelessly to communicate directly with and to support our tenants during their time of need. We have deployed senior leadership to assist”, said Chief Executive Officer, Bill Appleby.

“Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our tenants, staff and the community is our most important concern irrespective of independence or vulnerability.”, continued Mr Appleby. We understand that community members may have questions or concerns. Jewish Care has established a COVID-19 Helpline for support. Please call 8517 5555 from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Jewish Care Victoria strongly encourages all in the community to get vaccinated – book here
