24 December 2021

Jewish Care Victoria is delighted to announce that the Southeast Public Health Unit has advised an easing of visitor restrictions, as of today, Friday 24 December 2021.

In light of all test results over the past week of elders and staff being negative, Gary Smorgon House is officially ‘stood down’ as an outbreak site. Visitation recommenced today from 1pm in line with strict protocols.

Each elder may receive up to five visitors per day for any duration. Please coordinate families and friends prior to arrival. Visitors must be fully vaccinated and demonstrate evidence of this in the form of a vaccination certificate.

All visitors must comply with QR and screening requirements as directed and wear masks at all times.

Jewish Care understands these procedures may cause frustration however we ask everyone to remain respectful and comply with these important protocols.

Jewish care is incredibly excited to welcome visitors back and thank families and elders for their patience and support during this difficult time.

We would also like to take this opportunity of thanking our wonderful Gary Smorgon House staff and leadership team for their care, compassion, and professionalism.

Whilst we are officially no longer an outbreak site, Jewish Care will continue to offer supports to all elders, taking every precaution to ensure staff and elder wellbeing.
