19 April 2022
It is with great sadness that we advise that two elders at Gary Smorgon House (GSH) and a GP who attends to elders at GSH have tested positive to COVID-19.
As a result and on the advice of the Public Health Unit (PHU), GSH is now an outbreak site and is to remain in lockdown for 7 days from 18 April 2022. All elders have undergone Rapid Antigen Testing and pleasingly we have had no further positive cases. The PHU has advised us that Day 3 testing is to be undertaken on the 21 April 2022 and Day 6 testing is scheduled for the 24 April 2022.
Whilst GSH remains in lockdown, visitation and elder movement restrictions will apply and all GSH elders and families have been notified.
Elders will be required to isolate and stay in their rooms and not leave the home during this period.
Our staff will be supporting the elders to exercise, undertake activities and remain in contact with family and loved ones during this time.
We continue to work closely with the South East Public Health Unit, Alfred MATS and the COVID-19 Response Division of the Department of Health in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak and are following their direction regarding the expected length of the outbreak and outbreak management requirements.
We work tirelessly to protect our elders and staff in all our homes and those we support in their own homes.
We remind all visitors to please not visit if you are feeling unwell.
