Elders at Gary Smorgon House undertook Day 6 rapid antigen testing today. Unfortunately, over the past 24 hours, five elders have returned positive results.
All at Jewish Care are saddened by the news but thankful that the elders are comfortable and being looked after by the wonderful staff.
Jewish Care is currently awaiting the advice of the Public Health Unit regarding next steps and any subsequent changes to our current outbreak management status.
The outbreak continues to be confined to a specific level and therefore elders on the unaffected levels continue to mingle in common areas.Visits on these levels, will continue to take place in the elder’s room.
The visitation restrictions and risk mitigation strategies that were put in place at the commencement of the outbreak will remain in place until receiving any update from the Public Health Unit.
All elders and families of Gary Smorgon House have been advised.
We thank all our elders for their patience and understanding and our staff for their ongoing care and support of our elders. Our staff continue to support the elders to exercise, undertake activities and remain in contact with family and loved ones during this time.
We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our elders and staff and request that you do not visit if you are feeling unwell.
