21 April 2022

Today, elders at Gary Smorgon House (GSH) undertook Day 3 rapid antigen testing. Sadly, three more elders have returned positive results. Whilst this is not the desired news, all reports indicate that elders remain well.

On the advice of the Public Health Unit, there is no change to the current outbreak management advice and we remain on track to undertake Day 6 testing on Sunday 24 April, with anticipated lifting of the outbreak restrictions on Monday 25 April 2022.

Due to the outbreak being confined to a specific level, the medical team from the Public Health Unit are happy for elders on the unaffected levels to mingle in common areas. Visits on these levels, will continue to take place in the elder’s room.

The visitation restrictions and risk mitigation strategies that were put in place at the commencement of the outbreak will remain in place and all elders and families have been notified.

Elders on the impacted level will be required to isolate and stay in their rooms. We thank our staff for their unwavering commitment to continue to support our elders to exercise, undertake activities and remain in contact with family and loved ones during this time.

We all continue to work tirelessly to protect our elders and staff and request that any planned visitors do not visit if they are feeling unwell.
