29 April 2022

Elders at Gary Smorgon House (GSH) undertook Day 10 rapid antigen testing yesterday and unfortunately two more positive cases were identified.

All elders who have tested positive are being well supported by care, nursing and medical teams, with all elders continuing to feel generally well.

HEPA air purifiers are in operation and are being prioritised in the rooms of elders who have tested positive. All windows are opened to allow fresh air in and heaters are on to ensure elders remain comfortable and warm.

The dedicated team at GSH are organising for visits to the balcony for those isolating but not positive.

Day 12 testing will take place tomorrow, Saturday 30 April. All elders and families of Gary Smorgon House have been advised.

As always, Jewish Care continues to review and revise the protocols to ensure that the appropriate risk-based approach is taken to keep elders, visitors and staff safe in consultation with the public health unit.

We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our elders and staff and request that you do not visit if you are feeling unwell.
