About the Role

We are seeking qualified and experienced Personal Carers to support our clients living independently in their own homes. You will travel in your own car to client homes within suburbs surrounding bayside; including St Kilda, Prahran, Windsor, Elstenwick, Balacclava, Caulfield, Carnegie, Bentleigh.

Duties will include assistance with self-care, mobility, general household duties, escorted shopping, and driving clients to appointments and/or social outings. 

Due to increasing client demand, Jewish Care needs a strong network of Personal Carers who can speak Russian, Polish, Hebrew or Yiddish to travel to our client homes using your own car (paid $0.80 cents per kilometre between clients) and we will provide secure employment with access to flexible shifts from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Duties and responsibilities to help people live fulfilling lives at home:

  • Provide assistance with personal care including personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning and social activities.
  • Support clients to maintain and develop independent living skills in accordance with their Individual Care Plan
  • Monitor the physical, social and emotional well-being of the client and report issues 
  • Be responsible for taking immediate action in an emergency to ensure the safety of clients, themselves and the community 
  • Develop an effective, positive and respectful working relationship with clients respecting cultural values and beliefs

The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential: 

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • Victorian drivers licence & reliable vehicle
  • Available to work min 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Covid-19 Vaccinations (min 2 doses) or medical exemption

Desirable:

  • First Aid & CPR Certificate (highly desirable)
  • Technology experience using Smartphone to pick up shifts and roster
  • Ability to speak Russian, Polish, Hebrew, Yiddish will be highly regarded
