Network, socialise and grow
The Volunteer Resource Program offers volunteers excellent opportunities to gain new skills, network and socialise with other volunteers and staff as part of a meaningful volunteer experience at Jewish Care.
Training and events include:
Volunteer Orientation Sessions: Held throughout the year and mandatory for all new volunteers, these sessions provide an opportunity to meet other volunteers and learn about volunteering at Jewish Care.
Volunteer Schmooze: An informal opportunity for volunteers to catch up with Volunteer Resource Program staff as well as other volunteers over 'a cuppa and cake'.
Learning Lunches: Held monthly and bringing staff and volunteers together, these lunches offer an excellent opportunity to meet motivational guest speakers over a catered lunch.
Ethos Day: A full-day workshop familiarising new staff and volunteers with the fundamentals of Jewish lifestyle. Ethos Day includes lunch, guest lectures and a trip to the Jewish Museum or Jewish Holocaust Museum and Research Centre.
Volunteer Training Workshops: These workshops are designed to help volunteers learn new skills and meet other volunteers from across the organisation.
Cultural Events: Based around Jewish holidays and public commemorative days, events for staff and volunteers are run by our Cultural & Spiritual Departments.
Special Events: Organised by the Volunteer Resource Program staff, these events include festival packing bees, Mitzvah Day activities and National Volunteer Week celebrations. So too, many programs and facilities organise their own volunteer parties and events throughout the year.
Staff and Volunteer Awards Ceremony: Held annually to celebrate exceptional contributions of staff and volunteers nominated for service awards.
Online Networking: Run by Volunteer Resource Program staff, a special 'closed' Facebook group for registered Jewish Care volunteers, helps its members to stay in touch, share event photos and learn more about upcoming volunteering opportunities.
