Claims Conference to be Applauded

Jewish Care Victoria is delighted with the announcement by the Claims Conference that it has successfully negotiated successive increases for the funding over the next three (3) years to provide for important community support services to Jewish Holocaust Victims living around the world.

CEO, Bill Appleby said the money helps to provide in home nursing and support with basic activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition and social connectivity. Jewish Care
Victoria currently supports over one thousand Holocaust Survivors through a range of current programs as well as supporting a number of individuals living in other states in Australia.

“The Claims Conference has been the organisation at the forefront in identifying and meaningfully addressing the unique social welfare and health needs of Jewish Holocaust Victims. Their work should be applauded by our community,” he said.

What this outcome does, is provide certainty of funding to meet the growing need for community support in our community. The new funding also brings a revision of the eligibility criteria which needs to be applied on a case by case scenario involving a detailed needs assessment.”
