Generations of Women Annual Brunch was held on Wednesday, October 26, at The International of Brighton, an event contributing to Jewish Care’s counselling services by helping families with emotional and financial support.

Jewish Care Victoria is proud to announce that the recently revamped Jewish Care website has won the ‘Best in Class’ Interactive Media Award under the “Community” category.

Recently, there have been changes to the Labor Government’s National Health Reform with the introduction of a new National Information Line - 1800 200 422 - which provides easier access to information about aged care. The new information line provides one central number for the public to access information about aged care.

The newly redesigned website of Jewish Care was launched this month and it aims to extend the reach of all Jewish Care’s services and programs to the entire community. Jewish Care Victoria has been selected to deliver a new type of Community Aged Care package recently launched by the Government – known as Consumer Directed Care packages. “These tailored packages give older people a great boost in their quality of life and independence, as well as offer transparency and more choice for our clients, thus enabling them to retain more control over their health and care”, says Meigan Lefebure, General Manager of Services for Older People at Jewish Care Victoria.

Jewish Care’s Gary Smorgon House celebrated both a brit milah as well a Hachnassat Sefer Torah this past weekend. On Shabbat, 4 June, the community welcomed baby Chaim Akiva Nerenberg, son of Gary Smorgon House’s Rabbi Yoseph Nerenberg; and on Sunday, 5 June, welcomed a new Sefer Torah – both simchas bringing much joy to the residents and community at large.
