Respite

If you are caring for a loved one with a disability or chronic illness, respite services provide essential support to enable you to care for your family member over the long term. Respite allows you to take a break from stressful daily routines, spend time with the rest of your family, or catch up on activities that may be difficult when your child is at home.

Children's Respite House

Jewish Care’s Children’s Respite House provides customised respite care for Jewish families with children with a disability aged 6-18 years. We provide culturally appropriate services in a complex that blends a warm, homely environment with state of the art sensory equipment and amenities.

Jewish Care promotes a philosophy of inclusion and actively encourages the participation in community activities by young people with a disability.

Respite provides the opportunity for families to take a break from the caring role, look after one’s own health, and spend time with friends and/or other siblings.

Demands for respite services are extremely high and at present we support 25 families totalling 210 days per year. We are actively seeking funds to enable us to support more families.

Adult Respite Centre

The Manders Villas (formerly Glen Eira Villas) houses a set of 3 custom-designed adult respite suites that enable adults still living with their families to trial independent living and provides essential time out for carers. Up to 25 families every year will benefit from accessing this respite support.
