Jewish Care provides financial support to assist people to get ahead. If you need short term assistance to get you through a tough time, need help to pay for education or want to advance an important business or personal project, Jewish Care may be able to help you reach your financial goals.

Financial Counselling

Providing people with skills to achieve financial independence is a fundamental Jewish value. In keeping with this value, Jewish Care has developed the Financial Counselling program to assist you to manage money, budget and save towards your financial goals. If you are finding it difficult to manage your money well or are experiencing financial difficulty, this program can help you with:
  • Information and options
  • Empowering and equipping you to understand and cope with financial issues
  • Educating and encouraging you to advocate and negotiate well on your own behalf
  • Assiisting you to develop skills and strategies to address financial issues

Financial counselling is a free service available to anyone in the Jewish community who would like to improve their ability to manage money.

Jump Start Interest Free Loans

If you need a financial boost to help you achieve your goals, Jump Start Interest Free Loans can help you to do so. Available to all members of the Jewish community who want to realise their education, business or personal goals, Jump Start Loans can be used to:
  • Expand your business and earning capacity
  • Assist with fees for vocational training
  • Avoid delays for medical or dental treatment
  • Start on home improvements


Jump Start is an accessible way to invest in your own future and realise opportunities that would not be possible without a financial kickstart. Applications are simple and confidential.

Saver Plus

When family income is low, it can be very difficult to build sufficient savings to cover family education costs. In our Jewish tradition, there is great empahsis on eductaion as an essential ingredient to a happy and successful life. Saver Plus reflects this idea by offering a financial education and savings program to assist you to:
  • Manage money better
  • Develop a savings habit
  • Save for the family's educational expenses

Offered in partnership with the ANZ Bank, Saver Plus encourages you to save by matching every dollar you put in your savings account up to $500. Participants have successfully used this program to save for their children's education expenses or to pay for their own vocational training.

To be eligible, participants need to be:
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Earning some income from paid employment
  • Have a health care or pension card, and
  • Have children in school or themselves be attending vocational training
  • Live in the municipalities of Port Philip, Glen Eira or Kingston

Financial Aid

Financial stress can place unbearable pressure on families, placing the wellbeing of all its members at risk. Recognising that short term aid can avert long term disadvantage, Jewish Care provides eligible individuals and families with one-off or short-term financial assistance to meet basic living expenses that arise during unexpected or unusual circumstances.

This service can assist you to manage immediate financial stress, while you work towards financial independence and security.
