Music Entertainer

An opportunity exists for a Music Entertainer to join our Holocaust Survivors program based in St Kilda or our aged residential care unit.

Activity description

This position provides the opportunity to musically and/or vocally talented individuals who have music practice skills and can assist with musical entertainment.

Responsibilities
  • Entertain with a musical performance
  • Support duties as negotiated with the program or recreational coordinator
  • Offer a consistent, non-judgmental relationship to all clients
  • Provide an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants
  • Give and receive constructive feedback
  • Comply with the supervision and training requirements of Jewish Care
  • Adhere to the confidentiality policy of the organisation

The successful person will have:

  • A gregarious, fun-loving persona
  • Experience in playing classical pieces or Jewish popular songs
  • A passion for working with older Jewish people
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Care, patience and commitment
  • Ability to accept people for who they are and enjoy their company
  • Ability to engage with older people with various disabilities

Support

Ongoing support for this position will be provided by the Program Organiser and Activities Co-ordinator. This role offers a supportive, close-knit team.

Commitment

Two hours per week or as agreed.

Age requirement

Must be over the age of 16 otherwise, be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
