Creating opportunities to contribute
Jewish Care is an organisation of volunteers. Nearly all our service areas were initiated by voluntary action – from the small band who established the Melbourne Jewish Philanthropic Society in 1848, to those individuals who personally greeted post-war refugees at the Melbourne docks in the 1950’s.
Jewish Care endorses volunteering as an important way to get involved with local community and as a powerful force for change. Every year more than 300 passionate and dedicated volunteers of all ages and walks of life help Jewish Care deliver its services to the community. Volunteers engage in a full range of activities, from providing direct assistance to clients, to supporting the organisation through community engagement, and by participating in governance through membership on our Board of Management.
Volunteer in a program or service
Volunteer roles within programs and services are very diverse and include visiting clients at residences or in their homes, assisting with recreational or special interest activities, mentoring, helping with art or music therapy, yoga, helping with administrative tasks or simply helping with transport arrangements.
New volunteers are always needed to help deliver and support our vital work - your area of expertise could be great value to Jewish Care and our clients.
Join a fundraising committee
There are a number of volunteer fundraising committees who run annual or intermittent fundraising events to raise money for the work of Jewish Care. If you are passionate about making a difference you may like to join one of these dynamic, hard working committees who raise significant funds each year for Jewish Care programs.
