Rabbi Meir Shlomo Kluwgant

General Manager of Cultural & Spiritual Services

Rabbi Meir Shlomo Kluwgant has been serving as Rabbi of
Jewish Care (and formerly at Montefiore Homes for the Aged) since 1988. He was born and educated in Melbourne and studied in Rabbinical Colleges in Israel and the USA. Married with 5 children, Rabbi Kluwgant has a passion for communal work and has held numerous senior religious leadership positions on both a state and federal level.

Rabbi Kluwgant has had extensive experience and training in pastoral care and counselling, as well as mediation, arbitration and chaplaincy support both within and beyond the Jewish Community. He is known in many of Melbourne’s hospitals for his pastoral and chaplaincy work and is respected by Jewish, local, and government organisations for his leadership, vision and innovation.

Finding a healthy balance between work, family, religion and spirituality is what Rabbi Kluwgant views as key challenges for the contemporary generation. At Jewish Care he manages a team of rabbis and staff to provide cultural and spiritual support in the form of pastoral care, Kashrut observance, festival observance, staff education and training, and a host of other cultural and spiritual services for the benefit of the Jewish Care’s residents, clients, volunteers, staff and the community as a whole.
