Leadership focus for Young Achievers
Talented musicians and actors, budding entrepreneurs, passionate artists, future scientists and mathematicians and aspiring hotel owners are among the young people in the 2007 Young Achievers’ program.
Their mentors include business people and lawyers, a journalist, a statistician and even a former city council mayor, who will this year benefit from ongoing professional support and development, including intensive orientation and training sessions presented and supported by Paul Mathewson of Big Brother, Big Sister Melbourne.

Exciting and innovative workshops are also on the agenda for 2007 Young Achievers. The year kicks off with a workshop on leadership, followed by a seminar on working with Adobe Photoshop. Students will be aided in their preparation for mid year exams with a study skills workshop in June and then by a new take on the traditional art class with a film-making workshop with Renee Gross. Students will be armed with cameras to creatively explore themes such as “leadership” and “community”.
Participants will also benefit from expanded leadership training opportunities, including an intensive leadership development seminar provided by relationship management, negotiation and communication training company CMA.
