Jump Start’s philosophy is simple: We help Jewish people to help themselves, by providing financial support through interest-free loans.

Jump Start is a new initiative of Jewish Care’s Jewish Mutual Loan Company (JMLC). JMLC is a not-for-profit entity that has been providing interest free loans to the Jewish community of Victoria for over 100 years.

JMLC provides a ‘helping hand’ instead of a handout to thousands of Jewish people whose needs are urgent and who may not qualify through other financial resources.Interest-free loans instead of charity fill an important gap in our social system by promoting self-sufficiency with dignity.

JMLC affirms the ancient biblical requirement for interest-free lending by offering assistance to people in need with the goal of empowering them to be able to help themselves.
